If it´s not me, who? If it´s not now, when?

For those of us who have the privilege to be volunteers, convinced of our need to be a part of the solution towards a better society for all, including those who do not have adequate housing, it is with much joy that we celebrate Habitat para la Humanidad’s 10th Anniversary.

The path we have come along has been full of challenges:  in a changing and often adverse context, we have sought new strategies and new solutions, guided by the strength of our mission and inspired by God’s love.   Our projects have always stemmed from a firm belief in the need to strengthen neighbourhoods starting with the assets and strengths of the individuals and families within the community.  We know that a person grows and develops in many different levels, and that this development is influenced by various factors.  Having an adequate home in which to live is one of these factors.   And participation becomes a key word.  We cannot imagine a society where there is no interaction between the various parts.  True participation and the strengthening of networks is crucial.

This year we celebrate the achievements of ten wonderful years, thanking all those people, companies, organizations, who have joined our mission in one way or another.  And we renew our commitment to bring people from all walks of life together to put faith in action and build a more equitable and more just society.

Peace be with you all this Christmas and every blessing for the coming year!
