Year 1, Volume 5: JIMMY CARTER WORK PROJECT, MEXICO 2004:

From 24th to 29th Octubre, M. Constanza Ledesma (National Coordinator of Resource Development) and Joan Gottraux (National Board Member on the Subcommission of Resource Development ), were privileged to join volunteers in Veracruz engaged in the Jimmy Carter Work Project. This special event, the single most important one organized by Habitat for Humanity International, is supported by the ex-President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, who led some 4000 volunteers in the construction of 150 houses in the cities of Veracruz and Puebla.

The Event, which took two years to prepare, was a great success for Habitat for Humanity and a very enriching experience for Connie and Joan. They went determined to learn from their experience and to seek opportunities to make the work of the organization in Argentina known. They delighted in the pleasure that comes in serving others: Connie was part of the food services where together with a group of waiters, they fed and served 2000 volunteers every day. Joan was part of a construction team on one of the houses which, fortune would have it, was just beside the one being built by Jimmy Carter!
